Cabin Kit Warranty: What Is Covered and What Remains Local?

The warranty applies to the defined factory-supplied product, not automatically to the completed building.

The current written limited warranty controls. Freight damage, local foundations, assembly labor, MEP systems, site modifications, finishes and maintenance must be evaluated separately from an eligible manufacturing or supplied-component issue.

A cabin-kit warranty should be read according to the product SolidCabin actually supplies: factory-prepared components, not a completed building assembled and operated under the manufacturer's control.

The distinction matters because an international cabin project combines factory manufacturing, freight, storage, local foundation work, local assembly, MEP installation, finishing and ongoing maintenance.

SolidCabin provides a limited warranty for eligible factory-supplied components, subject to the written warranty terms applicable to the order. It is not a whole-building, local-labor or installation warranty.

What Document Controls the Warranty?

The current written limited warranty, project quotation, model-specific inclusion list and any additional written promise expressly made for the order control the warranty scope.

Website articles and sales explanations are general planning information. They should not be used to expand the written warranty beyond its stated terms.

Before ordering, the buyer should download or request the current warranty and keep the version applicable to the order.

What Does a Cabin-Kit Warranty Normally Address?

SolidCabin does not manufacture or control every part of the completed project.

  • Concrete, piers or helical piles
  • Insulation material and local installation unless expressly included in the written quotation
  • Electrical and plumbing systems
  • HVAC and ventilation
  • Bathroom waterproofing and fixtures
  • Appliances and countertops
  • Local sealants, coatings and finishes
  • Site drainage and landscaping

These items are not converted into SolidCabin-warranted products merely because they are used with the cabin kit. The local contractor's labor, code compliance, site safety and installation quality remain with the responsible local parties.

Why Does Installation Affect Warranty Evaluation?

Timber and envelope components work as part of an assembled system.

  • Foundation alignment
  • Incorrect assembly sequence
  • Unapproved cutting or drilling
  • Missing or substituted fasteners
  • Improper flashing or sealant
  • Wet-material storage
  • Incorrect glass installation
  • Local modifications
  • Failure to protect exposed components

The cause must be identified before responsibility and remedy can be determined. Clear construction photographs and records help distinguish a factory component issue from freight damage, site damage or installation error.

How Is Shipping Damage Different From a Warranty Claim?

Shipping damage occurs during freight, handling or unloading. A manufacturing defect originates in the supplied product or preparation.

Shipping claims can involve the carrier, freight forwarder, insurer, importer or unloading contractor. They may have shorter notice periods than the product warranty.

  • Separate them from mud and construction traffic

  • Store bundles so they do not deform

Wrapping a wet timber bundle in an airtight cover can trap moisture. Storage protection should keep bulk water out while allowing appropriate ventilation.

Does the Warranty Cover Natural Timber Movement?

Wood is a natural material. Moisture changes can cause limited checking, dimensional movement, color variation and surface changes.

The written warranty should be consulted to determine which conditions are considered normal material behavior and which may qualify for review.

A cosmetic variation is not automatically a structural defect. Conversely, a serious split, deformation or connection issue should not be dismissed without technical review.

Does the Warranty Cover Water or Condensation Damage?

Not automatically. Water and moisture conditions can result from roof or flashing installation, foundation drainage, window or door perimeter work, plumbing leaks, indoor humidity, ventilation design, vapor-control decisions, maintenance, storms or flood exposure.

The cause must be determined. A leak related to a factory-supplied defective component is different from damage caused by local flashing, an unsealed penetration or uncontrolled indoor humidity.
